Entry Levels 1,2,3: If you have never studied this subject before and you鈥檙e not confident in your skills, Entry levels are a good starting point.
Level 1: Covers basic skills and knowledge needed for this subject
Level 2: Building on basic knowledge or experience. Similar to Grade 4/ C at GCSE or O level in England or Standards in Scotland.
Level 3: Learn about the topic in-depth and have a broad range of skills. Independent working Equivalent to an A level in England or Higher in Scotland.
Beginners: A perfect introduction if you have no experience and skills in this subject.
Improvers: The next step if you have basic skills or knowledge but want to progress them further.
Advanced: Build on the solid experience and skills you have in this subject, applying your skills and knowledge in a more complex way.
Course overview
Course description
This 10-week course is aimed at intermediate level students and will introduce you to different methods for creating textures and effects when painting in watercolour. In it aims to help you to explore methods for working spontaneously and expressively.
Sessions will contain ideas for exploring self-expression and encourage you to try out new ways of approaching your own paintings when using different textures and effects. There will be the opportunity to see and take inspiration from a variety of sources including books, handouts, photographs, personal sketchbooks and artists as well as ideas that emerge during the sessions.
Weekly vocal discussions will take place at the start of each of the sessions where you will have the chance to be involved in the sharing of ideas and constructive feedback about your artworks with the tutor and other students on the course.
Teaching will include the use of a variety of creative prompts, demonstrations, downloadable handouts and other relevant online resources on Canvas and the Internet. Discussion groups on Canvas will also be made available for you to upload images of your artworks to and receive written encouragement and comments from the tutor and other students on the course.
Options you might want to take-up after this course, include a further follow on intermediate watercolour course.
