Course overview
Course description
Improve your drawing skills and start painting or develop your existing skills with watercolour in the landscape, parks and with natural forms through Winter and Spring seasons. You will develop ways to show texture, form, tonal contrast, colour mixing and building up a picture with transparent glazes using watercolour. We will also cover ways of using pen and ink, a favourite medium of some of the plein air artists who paint landscape and who illustrated landscape and ruins in 18th Century, on the grand tour; also, contemporary artists’ techniques of using a variety of drawing materials and watercolours. By the end of the course, you will, Be able to draw an accurate outline of objects or landscape from observation.
Develop a greater understanding of colour theory and be able to use this to create depth in your painting.
Be able to build up a painting layering transparent glazes in a landscape scene.
Improve your wellbeing through painting and working alongside others interested in art sharing your artworks in discussions on canvas as well as in class.
Your tutor will give you feedback on your learning and progress in the sessions and when you upload your artwork to discussions on Canvas.
