Course overview
Course description
In these classes, Simon Gregor will explore these developments between 1918 and around 1936. Part 1 will focus on the democratic experiment of the so-called Weimar Republic between 1918 and the late 1920s. In Part 2 we will turn to the Nazi Party itself, and track its progress from a tiny fringe party in the early 1920s, through to totalitarian control of Germany by the mid 1930s. These sessions will be interactive and involve plenty of opportunity for discussion and questions; most sessions will include a handout of historical sources which we will analyse together.
