Level 1: Covers basic skills and knowledge needed for this subject
Level 2: Building on basic knowledge or experience. Similar to Grade 4/ C at GCSE or O level in England or Standards in Scotland.
Level 3: Learn about the topic in-depth and have a broad range of skills. Independent working Equivalent to an A level in England or Higher in Scotland.
Beginners: A perfect introduction if you have no experience and skills in this subject.
Improvers: The next step if you have basic skills or knowledge but want to progress them further.
Advanced: Build on the solid experience and skills you have in this subject, applying your skills and knowledge in a more complex way.

Course description
This mental health awareness course can also be useful if you have contact with people with mental health difficulties in your family or community life.
• Study definitions of ‘mental health’ and common causes of mental ill health
• Learn how stereotyping can affect perceptions of mental health
• Explore services that exist to help with emotional well-being
• Learn about the rights of people who experience mental health difficulties.
Level 1 mental health awareness training gives you a broad overview of mental health issues. It can be the first step to further study in various areas.
You can progress to a Level 2 Certificate in Mental Health Awareness or Adult Social Care. This can lead to jobs working in care homes or as a mental health support worker.
Your tutor will advise you on the pathways and options open to you to help you make the right choice for you.
