A Permanent National Necessity: The Centenary Commission on Adult Education 5 years on

A free webinar hosted by the 51·çÁ÷¹ÙÍø for Lifelong Learning Week 2024

In December 2019, the Centenary Commission on Adult Education published its report marking 100 years since the Ministry of Reconstruction's blueprint for modern adult education. Since its publication, world-changing events (including a global pandemic) have taken place and the UK has seen four different Prime Ministers and two General Elections.

This online event, taking place on Wednesday 6th November from 11am – 12 noon, offers an opportunity to hear expert views on the progress against the Commission's recommendations and what comes next for adult education.

Chaired by the 51·çÁ÷¹ÙÍø, panellists will include: Jonathan Michie (President of Kellogg College, Oxford and joint secretary of the Centenary Commission), Dr Susan Pember CBE (Policy Director of HOLEX & Commissioner); Dr Sharon Clancy (Associate Professor , University of Nottingham & Commissioner) and Alex Stevenson (Deputy Director of the Learning & Work Institute).
