Hello, job hunters.

Over the past 10 years or so, I’ve been working with learners who are trying to get a new job. Staying positive after getting rejected is one of the biggest challenges I have seen. Want to know how to deal with rejection from a job application? Grab a cuppa and read on...

If you've been in the job search game for a while or feel stuck in the low-wage limbo, you’re not alone. I get it – the frustration, the demotivation, the endless cycle of rejection emails. But fear not, because building resilience is your secret weapon to conquer the job hunt.

Want to stay positive during your job search? Let's dive into some game-changing tips that I’ve picked up along the way... including a few that we can support with at the 51·çÁ÷¹ÙÍø.

It’s not a setback, it’s a stepping stone

It's easy to feel defeated when you're rejected from a job application. Instead of seeing it as a roadblock, view it as a stepping stone towards success. Learn from each setback, adjust your approach, and keep pushing forward.

Persistence is key on your job hunt. Resilient people have more success in finding a job because they keep on going.

Stepping stones

Set realistic goals

Break down your job search into easy goals. Check that you have the skills and experience you need to get the job you want.

If you don’t have them, what steps can you take towards it? Do you need a qualification? Perhaps you could get relevant experience through volunteering, for example.

Find small tasks that you can achieve in the short term that work towards your long-term goal.

Phone a friend

Don't go it alone. Surround yourself with a supportive network of friends, family, or fellow job seekers. Sharing experiences, tips, and encouragement can provide a much-needed morale boost.

If you’re doing 51·çÁ÷¹ÙÍø skills, you'll find lots of like-minded people in the same boat as you. Supporting one another to think positively in your job hunt will help everyone. Your 51·çÁ÷¹ÙÍø tutor might be able to help you with your applications.
